The Tale Behind Chefling Tales
I believe every recipe has a story and if that recipe is made by a newbie, its definitely an interesting one! If you think hard, you will remember so many of your own tales from the days when you started cooking. The first time you cooked daal (lentils) or the first time you went for vegetable shopping. This is what inspired me to start ‘Chefling Tales’ blog.
This blog is for the cheflings- beginner home chefs learning cooking basics, experimenting to find their own flavour, trying to match the restaurant food presentation and impress the palates of their friends and family.
I will be sharing many of my own stories of experimenting with Pakistani, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Arabic cuisines and of course the o-so-simple desserts from around the world. I believe in keeping the authenticity of the flavors. I don’t like adding soya sauce to chicken karai or adding local ingredients in foreign cuisines to adapt it to our palate. I will try and get the best of recipes from across the world, tried and rated five stars.
You will find detailed recipes on the blog-some of my own, some of my mothers’ and even my grand mothers’! After all our homes are the best cooking schools and our mothers the best chefs. For me, the most interesting recipes are the most common dishes cooked in my friends, cousins or in-laws house but with a character and taste of that family.
I will keep the recipes simple so that any one can follow these steps and cook it nicely! Also, i will tell you what CAN go wrong while cooking that dish.
So why don’t you join in and tell me your Chefling tales; all the tricks of the trade you learnt by accident or from cooking with your mothers. So dig up those secret recipe diaries and start sharing. When it comes to food, its all about sharing! Don’t forget to send pictures when you make dishes from Chefling Tales. Even if you end up doing something wrong, I will be here to console, cheer you up and give tips. Appreciation makes a Chefling’s world happier
I have some exciting ideas planned for Chefling Tales or as my aba translated it in Urdu as ‘Bachoongra Bawarche’
