Eid Trolley – Top 5 Dishes to Serve this Eid

Lets talk about trolley- yes the trolley that is decorated every Eid morning in anticipation of Eid guests. Trolleys and guests have a history. I still remember, we were not allowed to touch the food served on trolley when we used to go to anyones house, we had to wait patiently to be invited by Ami or the hosts to pick a thing or two.  At our house when the guests came in the rules were the same, it was only after the guests left that we would jump and savour whatever we could get our hands on. (In our hearts we always hoped and prayed that guests won’t eat all the stuff! )

Moving to the Eid Trolleys, I don’t know if you noticed this or not but there are always standard dishes on Eid trolleys, including channa chaat, dhoodh saweyan, dahi bhalae and the latest entrant Haleem. The thing about these dishes is that you don’t have to worry about reheating them, they can be made in large quantities easily and the dishes can be served immediately.   But if you are on the mission to meet all your relatives on the Eid Day, chances are by the third house you just don’t want to eat more of dahi bhalas and saweyan! (no matter how good the aunty claims it to be!)

This Bakra Eid, we wanted to do a special Eid Trolly Menu for you all.  We still kept the ease factor in mind. (Nothing beats dahi bhallae but still)

We have lots of quick recipes on our blog and we thought lets put it together and give you some ideas to make your tea trolly win all the way! It will be a surprise for most of those coming to your place after visiting a number of houses before yours.

Here are are top 5 dishes:

Kebab Khishkash

These are no ordinary kebabs, these are special Lebanese Kebabs- so do give them a try. Since served on a tomatoe bed, you can half cook them and keep them. Just toss them in a pan  before serving on the bed of juicy tomatoes.

Thai Spring Rolls

This dish will look very deceptive- these are rolls but these are not the ordinary rolls. Wrapped in rice paper, every bite of this roll is so full of thai flavors, zesty and fresh! You can make them over night and just lightly fry them and serve.

Vermicelli Dessert:

I don’t like saweyan cooked in dhood and this recreation of the classic dessert is just the best thing ever! You can make it beforehand and keep it in the trolley. (Make two of these as they just vanish!)

Lamb Chops

Since most of the guests on Bakra eid day visit on the second day of eid. Ask the butcher to make some lamb chop pieces. These are easy to make and the best recipe to get rid of the smell of meat!
