Fruits are essentially the most healthier way to get your sugar rush satisfied from. We all love the ordinary ones like mangoes and bananas, but there is a whole world of fruits out there whose existence is unknown to many of you. Some of these even came as a surprise to us as well.

1. Carambola (starfruit)

Carambola is quite pleasing to the  eyes. It has a star shaped cross section, usually grows in tropical climates and tastes like a mix of orange and papaya. Although it is native to Southeast Asia and pacific, but it is also popularly cultivated in Latin and North America. The entire fruit is edible and usually eaten out of hand, quite like an apple.

3. Miracle Fruit (Synsepalum dulcificum)

This in our opinion is the weirdest of all fruits. Apparently looking like just another kind of berries,  they have a mildly sweet taste. Howeve,r these berries have an unusual property that blew us away; they have the ability to make sour foods taste sweet. If you chew one miracle berry before a meal, you’ll notice the most intense sour lemons will taste sweet as candy. Hard to believe? we reckon you are going to love it.

4. Durian

Strangely called the king of  tropical fruits, It is native to Southeast Asia. It is probably the hardest of all to consume. not just because of its formidable hard shell, but once you crack through that spiky shell, the strange revolting odour may just make you run away. We suggest you gather some guts to give it a try. it tastes surprisingly good quite like almonds. Interestingly despite its local popularity, Durian is probably the only fruit to have been banned from public places such as hotels, subways and airports of Southeast Asia due to its intense smell.

5. Rambutan

Pretty striking to look at, this pom-pom like fruit is native to Asia. it has a sweet translucent flesh much similar to Lychee in taste and texture. Some people do find the fruit a bit scary reminding them of sea urchins but fret not. The hairy skin is soft and spongy to hold. Just crack it up with your fingers and it is an easy peel.
