Pakistani’s are true foodies with the food industry in Pakistan is changing rapidly with the consumer’s needs. In the last few years it has been revolutionized by new trends and has seen some major changes. Specially the onset of food entrepreneurs making their mark and introducing some exciting products in the market. Here are a few trends that made their way into the food scene in Pakistan in 2015 and we predict that they are here to stay:
Vegetables Are The New Meat:
We all remember the Punjab Food Authority raids in the middle of the year and the major scare they gave us. After that episode, it is quiet evident that the foodies in Pakistan are a bit reluctant to order meat based dishes while dining out. Based on this we make the prediction that vegetables are going to make it big in the coming year. Grilled, fried, smoked and fried you name it and the menus will have it!
All About Those Apps:
It’s all about those apps in the coming year. Technology has revolutionized the food industry and its set to make more changes in the coming year as well. Apps the like of Eatoye and Foodpanda are just the beginning. More and more eateries have realized their worth and are jumping the wagon. The foodie population are becoming lazier and besides who needs to step out of the house when you can get the yummy food at home. Right?
Farmer Markets- Go Organic!!
2015 saw a boom for the organic farmer markets in Pakistan. All major cities saw at least one gathering of the organic farmers and their delicious produce. Organic food items made it big in the last year, and these events succeeded in educating people about the importance of healthy food. We are positive that this trend will gain more strength in the coming year… Yaaay! more healthy food y’all!
Healthier Fast Food
Healthy food options people.. That’s the new cool, and food entrepreneurs are really jumping the wagon on this one. With more healthier options for their consumers as compared to the giant fast food chains.
Desi Revolutionized:

In the past one year we have seen some food entrepreneurs bringing the desi back (not that it can ever go away). With the truck theme art decors to the Punjabi style menus.. with emphasis on chai and naans and the desi menu items that Pakistanis cannot live without! We are glad to see the young entrepreneurs owning the food heritage of Pakistan and revolutionizing the street food in the country. Shout out all of you guys! You are amazing.
