Death by chocolate. Sounds scary, yet exciting. The first time I heard about this dessert was during my exams. Throughout that semester I barely studied and so I had to prepare very hard for the finals. I prefer not to go out during exams, but the way people talked about Hot Spot’s Death by Chocolate was crazy. Out of sheer curiosity and a sense of wonder, I went to the cafe with my brother and ordered this dessert. I’ve been a huge fan ever since.
As I sit here writing this, all I can think about is how delicious that plate of chocolate bread pudding topped with hot chocolate sauce, a side of ice cream was. I want to get done with work and convince Fahad to go with me there again tonight.
The amazing thing about this dish is its combination of hot and cold; The hot chocolate brownie topped with steaming chocolate sauce and a scoop of cool ice cream is one of the best things you can have for dessert.
This dessert has been around for a while now, and you can find other ‘death by chocolates’ at other places. But for me, and many others I’m sure, the one at The Hot Spot is on a different level.
Speaking of other restaurants, The Hot Spot has a number of branches in major cities as well as in the capital. I have only been to three, all in Islamabad: the original in Sector F-7, the one in Centaurus Mall, and Hot Spot on Haunted Hill. There is also a new location in Sector F-10. All these are great and have a funky vibe. You’ll definitely love the experience, so if you haven’t been there yet, go try it today!
