We Sialkotis are always judged (Well, mostly) based on our famous sense of humor and quick sarcasm. Humor and sarcasm is something we pick up as a habit as we grow up. Most of us have extremist taste buds as well. We love to eat the local thelay wali chaat and the frozen gola from the streets. We are true foodies in my opinion, seldom afraid of trying new things and appreciating good street food. As I make my way to home after every month or two (I am an army officer, visiting home is a scarce opportunity). There are some places in my hometown, that I as a foodie cannot resist. Two of them described below have been a part of my life since they opened. Any pocket money, even the first earned pay was spent on these two items. Let me introduce them to you as well. If you make your way here. you must visit these:
Al-mashoor Chaat
Now the Sialkotis and mostly the chatkhoray sialkoti people know the worth of this food joint. They have been around since 15-18 years now and they have been famous (as the name so rightly suggests) throughout for their variety in chaats.
Their Dahi bhalay are on eof the best that i have tasted in Pakistan except for Lahore. The magic is their chutney (sauce). Its said that all their food items are solely dependant on the unique tatse of their chutney. Their best item though is the cream chaat and the fruit chaat.
They add yogurt in the fruit chaat and serve it with their special chutney. The cream chaat is made with fruits and dry fruits and is a popular food item here in Sialkot.
Gujranwala Ice Cream and Falooda
So these guys have been around for 8-9 years and they have made a big name in the Sialkoti foodie community. Why? because they have some pretty unique variety icecream to offer.
The most loved item is the falooda which isn’t like the normal falooda at all. It has the khoye wali sauce and the noodles yes, but there’s no kulfa involved, instead it has two scoops of their ice cream which they say has a secret recipe.Their badaam doodh is 90 Rs/ bottle and i bet you’ll devour it one gulp. Its that tasty!
