For one, Pakistan Super League is proving that we as a nation are serious about cricket. Everyone is enthusiastic and passionate about the game. PSL is the talk of the town – Facebook newsfeeds are cluttered with PSL updates, topped with interesting hashtags and city wars on Twitter. By the end of every game, victory and defeat is accepted with loud and visible expressions of either joy or gloom. There is a sense of being a sport about all this that is really appreciable. Since the opening, seventeen games have been played and team positions are getting clearer. Qalandars, the team that I support, may be under the water right now but I hope that will change.
I was almost certain that the PSL saga called for another get together over a cricket game, so I invited our family friends over an evening high-tea. For me it was a small reproduction of what it would be like if I was having the same gathering in Lahore.
In every corner of Lahore, you can easily find a place for snacking or just hanging out. It is a well known fact that Lahoris do not need a reason to enjoy food. Whether we win or lose, we celebrate, because we appreciate good Cricket. Lahore is always jubilant like that and this is why I love the city so much.
Maria and I are very close friends. In addition to us living in the same neighbourhood, our husbands also work at the same place. We enjoy each other’s company and we always have something to talk about. Maria and I are both always looking for something good to cook and we share recipes. It was a lot of fun watching a match with them.
My plan was to prepare a classic fusion platter of snacks served with chili mayo sauce and podina chutney along with a cup of tea. It turned to be a complete and warm filling meal instead of just a high-tea.
