This first season of HBL PSL has been really exciting so far and while the “masalaydaar” heated exchange between Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shahzad has been seen to be trending the most on twitter, the love for food by the Pakistani cricket fans has really shone through as well, as always!!

There were some that thanked PSL for the cricket:

It’s true folks! We had our eyes glued to twitter this PSL season.
While others were brave enough to admit that their passion for food was greater than their love for cricket (yikes!!)

Fans have been “aik se barh ke aik” in making a name for the teams they are supporting and the food that their city represents and have taken it to twitter. Here are a few instances when the Cricket-food combination ruled twitter during PSL:
That time when the Karachi Kings vs. Lahore Qalandars Match turned into a foodie war:

The Biryani kings – #Achasorry – the Karachi Kings have a HUGE support from their devotees who are also hell-bent in proving that the food in Karachi is indeed better than elsewhere. Because, let’s face it, how can one not think of Haleem, Biryani, Nihari or Bun kebab when Karachi is mentioned????

So that’s the Karachi Kings secret eh? Anday Walay Burger… interesting!

Even our very own Ramiz Raja couldn’t resist mentioning food in his tweets:

This wasn’t the first or last instance he mentioned food in the tournament. He was heard calling Chris Gayle’s bat “Meat” and he also mentioned the famous Burns road Nihari in a few matches…. hmmmm we’re guessing he loves that Nihari a lot!
That time when the Lahore Qalandars seriously needed some Doodh Sodas:

Lahoris are known for their BIG hearts and even BIGGER appetites. No wonder this foodie thought some Lassi could get his favourite team in shape to win the match.
When this Quetta Gladiator couldn’t decide whether to have Sajji or not … Decisions….Descisions

We don’t think many people in Pakistan even knew that Sajji is a speciality from Quetta before PSL!!
This Islamabad United foodie laying it straight once and for all:
When Chefling Tales showed Pakistanis that Islamabad can do desi just as good as any city:

Islamabad may not be too famous for its desi food, but wait till you go on a foodie hunt and you’d be surprised by the desi food treasures you will get to find in the twin cities.
When this Peshawar Zalmi fan went a little too overboard with Chapli Kebabs:

When we couldn’t resist comparing Peshawar Zalmi to hot Namkeen Tikkay (Its not our fault, they really are on fire!)

All this talk about food has gotten us craving for some of the mouthwatering delicacies mentioned in those tweets. HBL PSL has really brought out the real foodies of the country and their love for food out in the open! Trust us Pakistanis to lead everything back to food. Of course, its always harder to decide what we love more, cricket or food? We for one are neutral on the topic (Lest we start another war on twitter about which option is better).
